Regardless of how much we plan and secure our future, life will always find a way to catch us off guard. These are the moments when we are at our most vulnerable and fragile state. When the things we have been hoping for don’t go our way, when the situations pins out of our control and we have no choice but to let it take us elsewhere. The setbacks in our lives happen for a reason, so do your best to move forward and stay positive when times are hard.
If you are in the midst of an uncertain situation and you’re struggling to keep your head above the water, here are some helpful tips that you can do to stay positive.
1. Look at the bigger picture.
Sometimes, we get too caught up in our own misery that we fail to think clearly. We do not see our situation for what it really is – and this makes it even more difficult for us to stay positive. The next time you find yourself slumping on the floor because of a problem you can try to look at things in a different light. You’ll never know, the solution to your problem may just be within your reach if you follow this advice.
2. Try to find a silver lining.
We know it’s difficult to hold on to being positive when it seems that your situation is quite bleak. But it wouldn’t hurt to try. There is always something good that is happening in our lives, despite the troubles we are facing. Hold on to what those things are and never lose sight of them. That’s a fundamental rule if you want to stay positive.
3. Realize that your predicament is not permanent.
Nothing in life stays the same forever – be it good things or bad things. So if you are facing troubles that you can’t seem to get out if, do not despair. Remember instead that God will always help you find a way out. Just hand on and do not lose sight of your faith because the problems you are facing won’t be able to break your spirit – they are meant to make you stronger.
4. Build your support group.
We all need someone to hang on to. We all need a listening ear, or someone who would take some sense into us and allow us to see things for what they really are. If your vision is clouded and your faith is beginning to crumble, building your support group will go a long way. Choose the people you are closest to and surround yourself with their love and light, but more importantly, keep God at the center of your life.
5. Smile and be grateful.
Being genuinely happy and grateful is an important thing. As long as you are aware that you are still blessed regardless of the difficulties you are facing, you will never go wrong. Smile and celebrate life. There are so many things to be grateful for.
Nobody is exempt from experiencing hardships and difficulties but if you pray to God for strength, wisdom, and hope, you will not find it difficult to stay positive despite the challenges that life is bringing your way.
