Anxiety is a frightening word. It has the potential to threaten the quality of your life with its mere presence. Anxiety is one of those things that may creep up on you if you allow it to. If you let your guard down, anxiety could win. And that is where things might begin to fall apart. Before you know it, you would end up depressed. You would have that sad, hollow feeling inside you; a void that you just don’t know how to fill.
Why are you anxious?
There are many reasons why a person could become anxious. More often than not, anxiety is happens when someone is extensively worried about something. it could be the outcome of something or a possibility that they are afraid might soon take form. Whatever the cause of your anxieties are, it is important to know that being overly anxious will not solve anything. Dwelling on feelings of negativity such as anxiety and worries will only dampen your spirit and make your situation worse. It will make you scared all the time and that will keep you from living your life to the fullest.
Is it normal to feel anxious?
It is normal to worry about something – or about someone – especially if you care deeply. These feelings could easily lead to anxiety and at a certain point, that is perfectly normal. We all tend to feel a bit anxious at times, and there is nothing wrong with that. The problem is when your anxiety takes over your life and it becomes destructive to you and to the people around you. When you allow your anxiety to rule your life and to ruin your happiness and your personal relationship with the people you love, that is the time you need to do something about your anxiety. Otherwise, it could easily control your life. And when that happens, you will not only become anxious and scared all the time, you will also lose confidence in yourself and in the people around you. You will stop seeing the good in every situation. You will start living a life devoid of peace, contentment, and joy.
How to overcome your anxiety:
- The first step in battling anxiety is to recognize that you are dealing with a potentially serious problem and that you need help. This initial step will open your eyes to the extent of the problem and what you need to do to prevent it from becoming worse.
- The second thing you need to do is to understand the root of your anxieties. As you understand the reason behind your anxiety, you will learn to rationalize with yourself, allay your fears in some ways, and think more objectively.
- Once you are able to do that, the next thing to focus on is to identify your support group. Seek out the people you want to go to for help. Confide in them and talk to them about your concerns.
- Finally, pray to God, because anxiety is a tough battle to win without God by your side.
Ask for God’s wisdom and courage. Only then will you be able to look anxiety in the eye and say, “My God is bigger than you”.
