Change is inevitable.
It’s normal to have fears about change and to be wary of how these changes can affect your life. However, you must be careful about the extent by which you allow fear to enter your heart. There are times when we get paralyzed by the fear of change that we opt to keep things as they are even if these things no longer serve us.
Imagine a working professional who works hard day in and day out. He stayed with his company for years even when most of his colleagues have left and looked for greener pastures. He remained loyal to his company despite the odds. Does this person deserve to be rewarded? Is it time for him to get a promotion?
The short answer is yes.
But even if he was offered a higher post, if he is constantly paralyzed by his fear of change, how would he get the reward that is rightfully his?
This scenario opens our eyes to the reality that a lot of people are so afraid of change that they end up turning their backs against God’s blessings. The wonderful opportunities that are coming our way are not there by coincidence. They are there because God made it all possible. God is watching us. He knows how hard we have been working. He knows how pure our intentions are. He knows what our hearts are yearning for, whether we say it out loud or not.
Eliminating fear in our lives is not necessary. Perhaps it is not even possible. Even the bravest and most courageous of soldiers have a fear in their hearts. They fear the outcomes of battles. They constantly have fears about losing their lives. But in spite of those fears, they are not allowing these to scare them off and to keep them from doing what they are meant to do. In the same way, you should also not allow fear to stop you from achieving your dreams and reaping God’s rewards.
The next time you feel crippled by fear, what do you need to do?
First off, you need to acknowledge that you do have fears. Being in denial will not help solve anything. When you acknowledge that you have fear, you can move on to the next step in conquering fear, which is to identify the real reason why you feel the way you do. Are you really fearing the possible outcomes and consequences of your decision to make a change in your life? Or perhaps you are doubting your own ability to cope with your new circumstances? Once you have identified the real reason behind your fears, the last thing on your list is to pray to God. Pray for those fears to leave your heart so that you may be blessed with God’s courage and wisdom.
What does this tell us? This tells us that at the end of the day, we all have to realize that It is up to us to accept change and have enough faith not only in ourselves and in God.
