We often hear people say that life is a blessing. We have encountered this line so many times that we cannot help but roll our eyes when someone repeats it to us. We may know that life is a blessing but the question is, do we appreciate that blessing?
It all start with discontentment
It may be a struggle for some to appreciate life when we feel discontent with what we have. We look at how other people are living their lives and by comparison, we feel smaller and less blessed than they are. It may seem hard at first, but once you learn to stop comparing your life, and your journey, to other people, you would be happier and more content with what you have.
What does it mean to be content? A contented person is not the richest, wisest, most beautiful or handsome person in the room. Contented people are those who see beyond the mundane and appreciate life for the blessing that it is. Contented people are those who do not have hidden, selfish interests. Contented people are those who do not allow jealousy, hatred, and negativity to rule their lives.
Living a happy life
The first step to being a happy and contented person is to find your own pace. Each of us has a different journey. Yours will definitely be different than your friends. The key there is to be happy for them when they achieve their dreams and focus your energy on achieving your goals so you can find fulfillment in your life. Life only gets better if your heart is good and you begin to see beyond life’s imperfections.
Sometimes, the trials and hardships we experience in our lives are only there to keep us away from greater peril. Or to prepare us for bigger and better things. The important thing is to learn the lesson and to ask God for guidance and strength. Put God at the center of everything you do and offer your grievances to him. In time, when you least expect it, He will make everything beautiful.
Hanging on, despite the odds
Trusting God’s word and His promise of salvation is not easy, especially when you are going through hard times. But remember that nothing worthwhile is ever easy. So just keep hanging in and trust that with God by your side, you can withstand the greatest storm in your life.
Everyone has to go through rough times. What is important is that you stay strong and resilient. Do not give up because there are far better and far more beautiful things ahead of you.
Live your life free from expectations. Don’t let other people’s expectations get to you. Do not allow these expectations to dictate how you perceive yourself. Do not think that you are less as a person because you weren’t able to meet or exceed the expectations that people have of you. You are special, and you are loved. Your life is a blessing.
A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.
