Have you noticed how everyone these days is always running around? Everybody is rushing off somewhere, leaping from one meeting to another, juggling too many things at one time. On one hand, we may say that wearing different hats is a good thing at the same time is a good thing because it saves time. But if we look at it closely, it also boils down to the fact that we have somewhat lost the ability to sit still and think about the day that has just passed.
We understand how hectic and busy your life could be but even so, you can still find a way to keep your thoughts and actions in check. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to make sure your hectic work and personal schedules are not getting in the way of how you’re living your life as a good follower of Christ.
Are my thoughts pure?
You are your thoughts. The question is, what are the things that pervade your thoughts when your mind begins to wander? Do they violate God’s commandments? Are they geared towards helping you live a happy, blessed, and fruitful life or are these thoughts leading you to sin?
Are my actions reflecting my true self?
Are you being true to yourself? Sometimes, we behave according to how God wants us to but we’re only doing so because everyone else is watching our actions. We are not intrinsically good, we are just portraying good deeds to keep others from judging us. At the end of the day, this still means we are committing a sin in the eyes of God.
How well am I treating the people around me?
Are you being good to the people around you? A good person does not treat other people badly, regardless of how they feel or how that person is treating them. Do not fall into the trap of exhibiting bad behavior just because you were not treated well. In the eyes of God, there is no license to treat other people the wrong way.
Am I doing something that displeases God?
When was the last time you looked back on God’s commandments? Now might be a good time to rethink your actions in the past and assert yourself to make sure you are not doing the things that you know are displeasing to the Lord.
Have I forgiven the people who have hurt me in the past?
In life, we often experience getting hurt, offended, and even betrayed. What’s worse is that sometimes, the people who do these things to us are those that we love and trust the most. But the important thing is never to lose sight of how to let go of the pain of betrayal and offer your heartaches to the Lord. He alone will heal your heart and give you peace of mind.
Am I living a life filled with love and faith in God?
When disappointments happen in our lives, we tend to find something to put the blame on. When things get really nasty, we even point our fingers to the Lord. People who succumb to this way of thinking are those who do not have a strong love and faith in God. Do your best to strengthen your faith and fill your life with God’s light.
Am I preparing myself for eternal life?
At one point or another, we will all have to leave this earth. How well have you prepared for the inevitable? Are you confident about entering heaven when you perish? It’s never too late to repent your sins and live a pure and joyful life as a servant of God.
It doesn’t take much to be a good person who accepts God’s word in its entirety and lives according to His teachings – even if you’re a busy person. You only need a few short minutes in a day to pause, to reflect, and to change your sinful ways to please the Lord.
